Traveling to the University of Maryland
Directions
From
Baltimore and Points North
Take
I-95 South to the Capital Beltway (I-495). Get off
I-95 at Exit 27 and follow the signs for US 1 south
towards College Park. (This is tricky, so pay close
attention to the signs.) Once you are on US 1, proceed
approximately 2 miles south. Right turn onto Campus
Dr. (the UM North
Gate-with a brick gate house between the
in/out
roads)
just
after Jerry's Sub Shop. Do not take Rt. 193.
From
Montgomery County/Rockville and Points West
Take
the Capital Beltway (I-495 east) to US 1 South/Baltimore
Ave. (Interchange 25). Proceed approximately 2 miles
south on US 1. Right
turn onto Campus Dr. (the UM North Gate-with a brick
gate house between the in/out
roads) just after
Jerry's Sub Shop. Do not take Rt. 193.
From
Bowie/Annapolis Areas and Points East
Take
Rt. 50 to the Capital Beltway (I-495 west). Exit the
Beltway for College Park at Interchange 25 (US 1 South/Baltmore
Ave.). Proceed approximately 2 miles on US 1. Right
turn onto
Campus Dr. (the UM North Gate-with a brick gate house
between the in/out
roads) just after Jerry's Sub
Shop. Do not take Rt. 193.
From
Washington, DC
New
Hampshire Avenue (Rt. 29) or Riggs Road (Rt. 212) to
East-West Highway ( Rt. 410). Turn right onto Rt. 410.
Turn left onto Queen's Chapel Road (Rt. 500). Turn
left onto US 1/Baltimore Ave. Proceed through the
town of College Park. Turn left onto Campus Dr. at
the UM North Gate (second
gate--with a brick gate house between the
in/out
roads).
OR
New
York Avenue (R. 50) to Baltimore-Washington Parkway
(Rt. 295). Exit at Riverdale Road West (Rt. 410). Proceed
to US 1 and turn right. Continue through the town of
College Park. Turn left onto Campus Dr. (the UM Morth
Gate (second gate and has a brick gate house between
the
in/out
roads).
From
Virginia (Richmond, etc.) and Points South
Take
I-95 north to the Capital Beltway (I-495). At this
point I-495 is also I-95. Exit the
Beltway for College Park at Interchange 25 (US Route
1-South/Baltimore Ave.). Proceed approximately 2 miles
on US 1. Right turn onto Campus Dr. (the UM North Gate-with
a brick gate house between the in/out
roads)
just after Jerry's Sub Shop. Do not take Rt. 193.
If coming from Fairfax City
or Reston, you will probably want to take the Capital
Beltway west/north to Maryland/Rockville and circle
around
on the inner
loop
going toward Silver
Spring. Don’t take I-270. Exit the Beltway for
College Park at Exit 25 (US Route 1 South/Baltimore
Ave). Proceed approximately 2 miles on US Route 1.
Do not
take Rt.
193. Continue on Rt. 1 and turn right onto Campus Dr.
(UM North Gate-with a brick gate house between the
in/out
roads),
just after Jerry's Sub Shop.

All
news 103.5 WTOP (FM radio). The traffic is reported
on the 8s, although Rt. 1 problems are rarely reported.

Accomodations
Overnight accomodations are
available at a variety of places near the College Park campus. For questions,
contact us at 301-314-7225.
Inclement
Weather
The
University Career Center closes and campus visits are rescheduled
if the university closes due to weather conditions
or other calamities. If you are scheduled to visit
the campus when inclement weather is predicted, call
the
University Career Center
(301-314-7225)
for the recorded message.
Also, check the university's inclement weather number—301-405-SNOW
(7669)—which is used for snow, tornadoes, hurricanes and any other
catastrophe that decends upon us. The university announces closings for
snow each day in the morning, not the night before.
Local television and
radio stations report
college and university
closings, but they aren't
always right. Use
the Center's voic message
or the university's.
Once the university opens, we will contact you to reschedule your campus
visit.
