Schedule a Career Assistance Appointment

Career Assistance is available in the University Career Center's Resource Room. During these sessions, our staff can help you plan solutions for your career-related concerns while identifying appropriate University Career Center resources, programs, and services. We can critique your resume, cover letter, or graduate school application essay. We can also help you:

  • identify what you want in your education and career (what you like, what you do well, and what you hope to get out of college and your career);
  • examine the career fields and educational programs that are well-suited to your interests and skills;
  • develop a career plan and learn the skills you will need to move into your first job after college or make an effective career change in the future;
  • answer questions about interviewing and the job search process; and
  • connect you to learning programs and experiences designed to complement your academic major, including: internships, research, study abroad, living-learning programs, leadership, and service learning.

Career Assistance appointments are made throughout the day by telephoning 301.314.7233 or 301.314.5668 or they can be made in person for the same day. You also may call to schedule an appointment for a later date.

Appointments are scheduled on the hour or half-hour and last for up to 30 minutes during our hours of operation.

Currently enrolled University of Maryland, College Park students and UM alumni/ae may schedule Career Assistance Appointments.
