Careers4Terps
What
is Careers4Terps?
Careers4Terps is a Web-based service
providing
students
and alumni
access to jobs, internships, externships
and part-time jobs.
You can also use it to:
- participate in the
on-campus interview program;
- make your
resume available to employers by uploading it
to
the appropriate Resume Books so employers can find
you;
and
- learn who is coming to campus for information sessions
and career fairs by reviewing the events calendar.
To log on, go to our home
page. In the
top right corner, follow the directions to create your
account.
Student Registration Policies
- By registering, you give permission to have your resume
and other documents forwarded to employers and viewed
by University Career Center staff members.
- Only currently
enrolled students may register.
- Alumni need to register
through an alternative location by visiting the Alumni
page.
In
addition to Careers4Terps, other resources are:
Engineering students: seeking co-op, summer, or internship
positions should register with the A. James Clark School
of Engineering Engineering
Co-op and Career Services Office to use their
eLink program.
Business students: a jobs database
for R. H. Smith School of Business students only is HireSmith.
Public policy students: Visit the School of Public
Policy's Office
of Career Services
Key
Tasks to Do After Registering
- Fill out your profile completely. Remember, your profile must be accurate so that jobs that are pre-screened by year level or major will show up in your search results.
- Search for jobs and internships.
- Once
you find a great opportunity, call 301.314.7233
or 301.314.5668 to make a Career
Assistance appointment
and have your resume critiqued. Bring a typed draft
to the appointment. We
can help target your resume to put your
best foot forward. Hours
- Upload
your resume and additional documents in the documents
section of Careers4Terps and apply to the position.
- Don’t
forget to upload your resume in our opt-in Resume
Books. Employers search these to invite students
to apply to their jobs. Make it easy for them to
find you!
Online
Search Tips of the Month
- Click the “Jobs” tab and instead of a basic search, conduct an “Advanced Search” and
create a search agent. This way you can revisit your
search later on and re-run it to see if there are additional
jobs added to your search results.
- At first, start your search broadly
by searching for position type
and location. Then if you are getting too many results,
narrow the search with additional criteria.
