Interviewing
Before the Interview
Be Prepared
- Know yourself.
- Research and know the field.
- Research and know the organization.
- Read the job description thoroughly.
- Practice interview questions.
- Write out answers and rehearse by yourself.
- Have friends ask you interview questions.

Dress professionally
- When in doubt, dress somewhat better than what may be expected at work.
- Dress conservatively with muted colors and moderate styles.
- For most interviews,
a suit is recommended.
- It is better to be overdressed than underdressed.
Arrive early
- Do not keep the interviewer(s) waiting; arrive 5-15 minutes early.
- If possible, make the drive to the interview location
prior to the day of the interview so you know how to get there and how long
it will take.
- Call if you have an emergency.
- Bring a copy
of your resume and any documents requested at the time the interview was
arranged. Carry these items in a good-looking portfolio or briefcase and
make sure they are organized and easy to access.
