Organizations conduct interview in many ways. The format an employer chooses often depends on the nature of the organization and the position.

One-on-One Interview
The most common format is one interviewer, either from the human resource management department or the hiring manager, interviews one candidate individually.  Sometimes an additional staff member will be in the interview.  For instance, a manager will be the lead interviewer, but a technical expert will assist.

Panel Interviews
Several employees (from different parts of the organization) together interview the candidate. these are common in educational and government settings).

Phone Interviews
A variety of organizations often do this for first interviews winnowing several candidates down to the three or four for in-person interviews.

Group Interviews
Several employees from the organization and several interview candidates assemble together as a group for the interview (these are common among customer service organizations).
